Do you have any unique qualifications?
I earned my doctoral training in Pediatric and Health Psychology, which is a specialized track of Clinical Psychology that trains professionals to help people cope with medical concerns. While my practice is not limited to those with health issues, I am particularly skilled in helping people who are having difficulty coping with challenges related to their health. Some examples include:
*working with patients of all ages to improve their adherence to treatment for chronic illness;
*teaching relaxation skills training for pain management;
*supporting young adults with chronic illness as they embark on new life experiences, such as college entry.
What ages of patients do you see?
I am trained to work with people of all ages, ranging from early childhood through older adults. I specialize in family therapy, and also offer direct consultation to parents whose children are struggling with developmental, behavioral and/or emotional concerns. A particular area of interest is in helping adults adjust to the emotional intensity of parenting, either during pregnancy, in the postpartum period, or issues related to developmental transitions, such as adolescence.
How do I get started?
Please begin by emailing me at [email protected] to set up a telephone consultation. We will discuss your needs and determine whether there is a possible match with my approach. We will then schedule an initial consultation to further review your objectives. I will provide you with a set of recommendations on the optimal format, frequency and duration of treatment. My approach to psychotherapy is "solutions-focused," meaning we will collaboratively set goals with a timeline associated with each priority area. I will reassess your progress regularly to make sure that my intervention is providing you with sustainable relief in the most expedited manner possible.
What is your approach?
My main therapeutic approach utilizes cognitive-behavioral intervention, although I integrate family systems, client-centered, and psychodynamic aspects of treatment when indicated.
What problems do you treat?
I am prepared to treat a range of presenting emotional and behavioral issues, including depression, anxiety, relationship problems, stress management, weight loss support, and parent training. For children and adolescents, I assist with depression, anxiety, behavior problems, family conflict resolution, underachievement and problem-solving training.
What is your fee?
My practice is fee for service, meaning payment is due at the end of each session. My fee for 50-minute psychotherapy session is comparable to other doctoral-level psychologists in Denver with a similar level of training and expertise. I will provide you with a receipt statement for submission to your insurance if requested.
How frequently are sessions held and how long does therapy last?
Psychotherapy sessions are typically held weekly, although I may recommend meeting more or less frequently based on needs and progress. The duration of treatment varies, but my approach is geared to provide you with rapid and lasting relief. With an emphasis on careful assessment, specific goal setting, tracking of progress, and "homework" between sessions, many patients find that they accomplish their goals more rapidly than they had anticipated.
Where are you located?
My office is located in an office building on the east side of South Bellaire Street in Denver in suite 203. The main cross streets are Mexico Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. The location is at the Colorado Boulevard exit of I-25 at 1720 South Bellaire Street, #203, Denver CO 80222.
